How to enjoy restaurants in Europe on a budget

In most European countries, eating in restaurants multiple times per week can become quite expensive.  Luckily we have a solution to help you save a lot of money on restaurants in multiple European cities

If you have never heard of “the fork” app, we are about to let you in on an incredible discovery!  Ben’s parents let us know about this app right before we left home and we used it every chance we got.  “The fork” is an app that allows you to select the city in Europe that you are visiting and, if it is available in that city, it will show you all the participating restaurants that are offering discounts.  The discount can vary between 20% all the way up to 50% off!  And you can reserve your table directly on the app.  It is important to note that some restaurants have some restrictions, such as no discount on alcohol or potentially certain specials on the menu that will be exempt from the discount.  We were able to have some incredible meals for a fraction of what we would have normally spent thanks to this app!

These are the cities we were able to use the app:

On top of the discounts, for every reservation you make through the app, “the fork” also offers loyalty points.  Those points can eventually be turned into additional discounts!  By the end of our trip, we had accumulated so many points that, on our last dinner in Rome we had a 50 EURO voucher!  We were able to treat ourselves to a last dinner in Europe that we would have never been able to afford otherwise.

Here are some restaurants we found on the app that we highly recommend:

Chez Antoine et Guillaume
Delicious Crepes – Paris

Sao Jorge
One of the best places we have eaten at in all of Europe!
Seafood, grilled meats, tartare, amongst others – Lisbon

Taberna da Baixa
Typical Portuguese meats and seafood – Lisbon

Harinas Cocina a fuego
Incredible tapas – Seville

La Folie
Tapas, burgers, great seviche – Alicante

Tandoori Nights
Awesome and affordable indian restaurant – Barcelona

Tartare, seafood, pastas – Nice

Vogue d’Asie
Great varied asian restaurant – Nice

Granet Restaurant
Italian – Rome

So definitely give this app a try next time you’re in Europe, or try their website here.

Let us know in the comments if you’ve ever tried the app and, if you have any restaurant recommendations from it! 🙂

Lots of Love,

Ben and Bianca
